JCB Welcomes Dougherty Equipment Company as a Full line Dealer in South Carolina

JCB announces Dougherty Equipment Company as the new full line JCB dealer covering all of South Carolina with the exception of Hampton, Jasper and Beaufort counties. Dougherty Equipment will rent and sell the full range of JCB construction equipment through 4 full service locations. They bring over 100 certified technicians throughout South Carolina to ensure the best customer service available. “We are pleased to add Dougherty Equipment Company to our growing dealer network,” said John Patterson, chairman and chief executive officer of JCB Inc. “Their commitment to the customer and the reputation they have in their market make them a valuable partner. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”

Much like JCB, Dougherty Equipment Company is a family owned business. Mike Dougherty, the owner and CEO has over 40 years of experience in the equipment industry. Starting his career with Yale Lift Trucks as an account salesman in the Chicago area, he quickly gained experience and grew his role within the organization. He moved to North Carolina to open his first dealership in Greensboro over 25 years ago. With a reputation built on hard work and dedication to the customer, Dougherty knows what it takes to get the job done. He is involved in the day to day business and takes the open door approach. His employees and customers know they can call him any time. “I have one policy- take care of the customer- It’s just that simple. I know that it’s the customer that pays the bills, not me- so they are the center of everything we do”, says Dougherty.

It was Dougherty Equipment Company’s desire to expand their offerings to meet their customer’s needs that attracted them to the JCB product line. Over the years they have seen their customers’ needs grow to include a product offering outside the traditional industrial sector which they served. JCB’s extensive range of equipment filled that need and complimented their existing products. “I had peripheral knowledge of JCB and began following them more closely when they built their state of the art manufacturing facility in Savannah. I have been looking for ways to grow my business and when I heard the success one of my fellow Yale dealers was having by adding the JCB range of equipment, I saw the tremendous opportunity it presented in South Carolina”, says Mike Dougherty. Steve Strenck, VP of Sales and Marketing for Dougherty Equipment shares Dougherty’s enthusiasm. “I was impressed by the passion JCB and their employees had for the product, the company and the industry. Our company has a reputation as a provider of high quality product and service and JCB fit perfectly with our principles and market position.”

The Lady Bamford Center's 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament

LBC_logoDate: Saturday October 10th 2009
Time: 11:30 Lunch / Registration  1:00 Shot Gun Start
Location: Southbridge Golf Club, Savannah, GA
Cost: JCB employee discount $300 per team, $75 per individual

JCB as a global organization is committed to helping underprivileged children in all of the communities we serve.  It was in this spirit that the Lady Bamford Center for Early Childhood Development was created in Savannah Georgia in 2007.

The Lady Bamford Center for Early Childhood Development is a partnership between the City of Savannah, United Way, and JCB. The center serves disadvantaged children in the Savannah community and ensures they receive a foundation that will allow them to compete academically when they are ready to enter the school system, and increase their chance of succeeding later on in life.

The center requires annual donations in excess of $200,000, which come from various sources.  The sharp economic downturn has led to a dramatic decrease in the funding the Center depends on to operate and they are in need of our support.  Your kind and generous donations will help provide educational materials and other resources needed to give the children the foundation they need and deserve.  You can support the center by playing in the 3rd Annual Lady Bamford Center Charity Golf Tournament, becoming a sponsor, providing door prizes and/or gift bag items or by making a donation.

JCB Dealer Low Country Machinery and Coastal Concrete Buck Economic Trend With Million Dollar Deal

(August 21, 2009 Pooler GA) Low Country Machinery today delivered 6 new 14 ton 426Z wheel loaders to its long standing customer, Coastal Concrete- a deal worth one million dollars. The six new machines update Coastal Concrete’s fleet and marks their 18th JCB machine purchase.

The relationship between the two companies goes back to 2001 when Coastal Concrete purchased their first JCB, a used 426 Wheel Loader. Since that initial purchase they have turned to Low Country Machinery and JCB for all their wheel loader needs. Tim Coleman, CEO of Coastal Concrete says, “I choose to do business with Low Country Machinery because they have always provided us with consistent service, responsiveness, and reliability.”

To celebrate the million dollar deal, the two companies invited their staff to a BBQ highlighting this bright spot in a down economy. “This deal represents a beacon of hope for the struggling economy. It has been a tough year for our industry and for this community; this deal shows that there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” say Rick Piper, President and co-owner of Low Country Machinery. His hopeful outlook is shared by Coleman who says that the new wheel loaders give new life to his business and better equip them to deal with the increase in jobs they are anticipating this fall.

With 17 locations throughout Georgia and South Carolina, Coastal Concrete has been able to maintain a full schedule of jobs, despite the down turn in the economy. All 17 of their locations rely on the team at Low Country Machinery to handle the maintenance on the entire fleet of machines. “Low Country Machinery has always provided us with the highest level of customer support. They keep our machines running so we can keep our business going,” commends Coleman. The wheel loaders are an integral part of Coastal Concrete’s business. They are used to load the plant to keep production moving. The lift capacity and fast cycle times of the JCB Loaders enable them to move gravel in less time, increasing overall productivity.

For Coleman, the decision to buy goes far beyond the business deal. “Our partnership with Low Country Machinery and JCB runs much deeper than this purchase today. We share the same commitment to this community and to giving back to it,” says Coleman. Coastal Concrete, Low Country Machinery and JCB teamed up earlier this year to raise more than $30,000 for the Effingham County YMCA, an event the Coleman chaired. All three companies believe in good corporate citizenship and the importance of supporting the local economy. Rick Piper echoes Coleman’s belief and adds, “this deal is a good example of how local companies are working together to buck the current economic trend.”
